Which oil is the best?
There
is no single oil which is best or worst.
Every
oil has a unique, fatty acid
composition.
Using one type of oil may not
fulfill
the requirement of all fatty acids.
Therefore,
it is recommended to use oils in rotation.
What is the difference
between extra-virgin, regular and light
olive oil?
Extra virgin
olive oil is obtained from pure, cold-pressed olives
whereas
regular olive oil is usually a blend of
cold-pressed
and processed oils. Extra virgin oil has a fruity flavor, lower smoke
point
and therefore generally used in salad dressings.
Light olive
oil is filtered oil which has a light color and light flavor
(the word
'light' has nothing to do with the calorie content
here!).
It has a higher smoke point and
suitable for pan-frying or sauteing.
